Justiciability Doctrines
Questions that each doctrine asks:
- Advisory Opinions (pp. 18–34): "would a decision on this issue actually mean anything?"
- Standing (pp. 18–34): "who may sue?"
- Scalia: Standing basically asks "what's it to you?"
- Ripeness (pp. 62–76): "is there/will there imminently be a cause of action?"
- Mootness: "has this already been resolved?"
- Political Question Doctrine (pp. 62–76): "is this a legal question or a political question?"
