Line Item Vetoes
- The President can veto Acts of Congress.
- Entire acts only
- This becomes an issue when the President vetoes specific provisions of a stautte while the remainder of the Act goes into effect.
- This is considered an attempt to increase executive power.
- Held to be unconstitutional; the President may not utilize a line-item veto.
- Congress cannot grant the President the ability to perform line-item vetoes either.
